Jeep Wrangler TJ: up to six seats

This Jeep Wrangler Rubicon “limousine” is the work of Illusion Coach Builds, an American coachbuilder: the transformation was carried out in March 2006, just after its delivery. The wheelbase of the Wrangler TJ has been increased by almost four feet , while two doors have been added to the rear, as well as two additional seats which bring the total to six seats , all in three rows. A custom-made hood covers the entire model.

Aside from the addition of the third row of seats, the interior of this Wrangler remains fairly basic: there is black leather trim, air conditioning, and a CD car radio. Under the hood, we find a 4.0-liter straight- six, developing 193 horsepower for 318 Nm of torque . Everything is transmitted to the four-wheel drive via a four-speed automatic transmission, while a MagnaFlow exhaust line completes the list of modifications.

This Jeep Wrangler Rubicon limousine only displays 67,650 kilometers on the odometer, and has been auctioned on the Cars & Bids site: at the time of writing, the auctions have passed the 10,000 dollar mark, i.e. the equivalent of 8,200 euros.

As is often the case with Lego Technic productions, this miniature of the American 4×4 is full of engineering details inspired by its model.

The vehicle to be built is thus equipped with doors, a trunk and a hood that open, folding rear seats, a steering operating via a knob placed at the rear, and a suspension with articulated axles. Front winch and spare wheel are part of the accessories.

Launch after the holidays

The Lego Technic Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Kit is aimed at users ages 9 and up. It has 665 parts and, when assembled, the car measures 24cm long, 13cm wide and 12cm high. Jeep Design Director Mark Allen draws an unexpected parallel to the real Wrangler: “Ask any Wrangler owner and they’ll tell you their vehicle is just a larger version of that lego kit. The Jeep Design Wrangler lets them take it apart, take it off the roof, take out the doors, reconfigure it, add new items created by our Mopar team, and then put it all together again. ”

Like the McLaren Senna GTR Lego Technic alas, this set will not be able to be at the foot of the tree for Christmas since its marketing is only announced for January 1, 2021, at a price of 49.99 €.
