Toyota Yaris Cross (2021) the Yaris SUV in Adventure version

Toyota presents the Yaris Cross Adventure, a more adventurous version of the Yaris SUV whose reservations will open in a few days …

In April 2020, Toyota presented the Yaris Cross, a small 4.18m SUV based on the all-new Yaris . A year later, while the model has still not arrived in dealerships, the Japanese manufacturer today unveils a new version .

It takes the name of Adventure and reinforces the adventurer side of the Yaris Cross with specific design elements.

A more adventurous model than the “classic” Yaris Cross

Its front face, in particular, has been revised to show more robustness . There is also a skid plate under the rear bumper, silver-colored roof rails and 18-inch alloy wheels in a dark gray finish.

On board, this renewed personality is underlined by black lacquered trim elements and a black headliner. The wraparound imitation leather seats benefit from a specific design and a golden color line extends from the dashboard to the storm doors to add a touch of refinement and originality.

Always 100% hybrid

Less novelty on the other hand under the hood since like all Yaris Cross, this “Adventure” version will be powered by a hybrid engine combining a three-cylinder 1.5L petrol unit and a 59 kilowatt electric motor powered by a lithium-ion battery for a total power of 116 horsepower . All in two or four-wheel drive (intelligent all-wheel drive AWD-i).

Reservations open in April

Manufactured at the Toyota plant in Valenciennes-Onnaing , in the North of France, the new Toyota Yaris Cross will be available for online reservation at the beginning of April 2021 . First in the “Adventure” version and with the limited launch “Première” series.

Offered during the first twelve months of marketing, the latter will be particularly well equipped since it will receive as standard equipment specific 18-inch alloy wheels, leather upholstery, a motorized tailgate with hands-free opening, a head-up display, a panoramic roof , an 8-speaker JBL audio system and semi-autonomous parking aid.

It remains to know the prices …

Official: Ford stops the Mondeo!

Official Ford stops the Mondeo

End of career for the Ford Mondeo. Launched in 1993 in Europe and since sold nearly 5 million units, the sedan will cease production in March 2022.

The sentence fell. On borrowed time for several years, the Mondeo is about to bow out . Ford has indeed decided to put an end to the production of its sedan. The American manufacturer will lower the curtain in a year, at the end of March 2022 .

Priority to SUVs …

In difficulty in recent years in Europe and launched in a large and heavy reorganization, the Dearborn firm will abandon the sedan segment , which is currently not very buoyant on the Old Continent, to turn to other more profitable sectors, and in particular that of SUV .

“In 2020, 39% of Ford’s passenger car sales were SUVs and crossovers, eight points more than in 2019,” said the manufacturer to explain its decision.

… and electrification

The focus will also be on electrification with an investment of at least $ 22 billion (around € 18.6 billion) globally. Thus, by mid-2026, 100% of the range of passenger vehicles will be available in a 100% electric or plug-in hybrid version, then 100% will be electric by 2030 .

Five million Mondeo sold since 1993

Launched in 1993 in Europe, where it replaced the Sierra, which won the European car of the year trophy in 1994, the Mondeo has survived the ages over four generations. Available as a SW station wagon, sporty ST versions and even a hybrid, the sedan has sold around five million units to date.

The Galaxy and S-Max continue their hybrid route

The large Galaxy and S-Max minivans , which were also in the hot seat , “will continue to be produced, with full hybrid versions recently unveiled ,” Ford concludes.

Fiat 500: 2.5 million units produced

Fiat 500 2.5 million units produced

Fiat celebrates an important milestone in the production of the Fiat 500: 2.5 million units have been manufactured at the Stellantis plant in Tychy, Poland.

If since the launch of the first generation in 1957, more than 6.7 million Fiat 500s have been sold worldwide, the contemporary Fiat 500 has been manufactured in Poland since 2007 , at the Stellantis (ex FCA) factory in Tychy. The 2.5 millionth unit has just rolled off the production lines of the group’s Polish plant: a red Pasodoble Fiat 500 Dolcevita Hybrid, whose Mild Hybrid engine was launched last year on the 500 and Panda ranges.

Fiat 500: an international success

To date, 2.5 million copies of the Fiat 500 have therefore been produced at Tychy: the 500 is now the model that has been produced the most in this factory, ahead of the second generation Panda (2, 17 million units) and the Fiat 126P of the 1970s (2.17 million units).

Since its launch in 2007, the contemporary Fiat 500 has been a real success across the world: it is indeed sold in more than 100 international markets , of which nearly 80% outside Italy, and has obtained around sixty awards including the one for Car of the Year 2008 . And in 2020, the Fiat 500 continues to lead its segment in Europe, with a 17.7% market share, breaking historic records.

However, a new generation has just appeared: the last 100% electric Fiat 500 is now manufactured in Italy, at the Fiat Mirafiori plant in Turin. The previous generation will still be on sale for now, as long as there is still demand for thermal engines.

At the beginning of February, Lexus announced the imminent arrival of a new concept car which should present the future of the brand and announce a new generation of models.

Hybrid style

Little is known about it, but according to the first images released, it should be a hybrid-styled vehicle, halfway between a sedan, an SUV and a coupe.

Raised ground clearance, high waistline, wide hips. Plunging roofline, steeply sloping rear window are indeed some of its aesthetic features. The whole gives off an impression of power and dynamism.

An electrified engine

The vehicle should be 100% electric or at least electrified and will have a new adaptive all-wheel drive system called Direct4.

It should inspire a first production model to be launched before the end of the year. Others will follow in 2022 and beyond, Lexus already promises.

Citroën the new C5 unveiled on April 12

Citroën announces on Twitter the world premiere of a new model for April 12. it should be the new C5!

Citroën continues. After having recently restyled the C3 Aircross , the chevron brand is now preparing to reveal a brand new vehicle .

On its Twitter account , the French manufacturer has indeed announced the world premiere of a new model for April 12 .

Citroën is back on the family sedan market

What is it about ? Probably from the new C5 . Just a few weeks after returning to the compact sedan segment with the new C4 , and four years after ceasing the sale of the second-generation C5 on European soil, Citroën will make its return to the family sedan market .

An original look for the future C5

According to the first teaser photo published on social networks, this future C5 should take the facies of the very last C4 with a double-decker look, a thin “X” grille and chrome chevrons stretched across the width of the vehicle .

Recent spy photos also suggest that the car, which will be based on the extended EMP2 platform of the Peugeot 508L sold in China, will display an imposing size with probably a length of almost 4.85 m.

It should also ride the trendy wave of “SUV coupe” by sporting a raised ground clearance, wheel arch protection and a plunging roofline.

Spacious, comfortable and probably hybrid

In addition to its original design, the new C5 will also focus a lot on roominess , thanks to a generous wheelbase, and on comfort , probably with progressive hydraulic double stop shock absorbers and Advanced Comfort seats.

Finally under the hood, we should find traditional petrol thermal units (130 to 180 hp?) But also plug-in hybrid engines (180 hp and 225 hp?). Confirmation expected on April 12!

New Honda HR-V (2021): the compact SUV makes its revolution!

New Honda HR-V (2021) the compact SUV makes its revolution

Honda unveils the new and third generation of HR-V. The compact SUV changes completely with a whole new look and a now hybrid engine. And only hybrid!

It is done. As announced a few days ago via a teaser , Honda unveils the new and third generation of the HR-V . And beware, everything changes! Launched in Europe in 2015 then restyled in 2018 , the current Japanese compact SUV is completely renewed . Here he is transformed and electrified!

A wiser, more elegant and more modern style

On the look side, the model becomes quieter and becomes more elegant with more fluid and slender lines than before. Its dimensions are not yet known but the model also seems to gain in stature thanks to wide and high shoulders and an elongated hood. It also takes on the air of a coupe SUV with a particularly tilted rear window. Finally, we note the modernity of its front , with tapered lights and a very stylish integrated grille. At the rear, the lights are again refined and now interconnected by a light strip.

Inside same topo. The HR-V leaps back in time with a sleek dashboard and a touch screen positioned at the top of it, like a tablet.

At the rear, the modular “Magic” seats , which can be folded flat or vertically depending on the load volume required, are still there.

Honda promises that its new HR-V “retains its record interior space, with significantly improved levels of comfort.”

Hybrid and nothing else

The revolution continues its hood because after the CR-V and the Jazz , the HR-V in turn adopts an electrified engine for the first time . More precisely an e: HEV hybrid engine . While the SUV is only offered in France today in a petrol version, with a 130 hp 1.5L i-VTEC engine, this new powertrain will now be the only one available in the catalog .

This mechanism will combine a thermal block and two electric motors powered by an auxiliary lithium-ion battery . The power of the whole has not yet been specified but should however exceed the 109 hp today offered by the Jazz.

The new Honda HR-V e: HEV will be available in Europe at the end of 2021 .

Peugeot: the 508 and 3008 plug-in hybrids to recall

peugeot the 508 and 3008 plug-in hybrids to recall

A few thousand cars are affected by technical problems that Peugeot prefers to rectify.

Small glitches that Peugeot prefers to take in hand immediately. A recall campaign has been launched for plug-in hybrid versions of the 508 sedan and 3008 SUV , launched a few months ago.

The concerns in question are mostly easy to correct: a problem concerning the attachment of the wiring harness affects 2,690 of these cars, while a deflector could affect a fuel line in 6,695 examples. In both cases, a visit to the garage will make it possible to verify that everything is in order, and to replace the faulty part if necessary.

Some 42 other vehicles also need to be checked for a pivot problem on the rear axle , a problem which this time also affects 508 thermals.

91 electric motors to be replaced

Finally, a problem probably more costly for Peugeot, affects 91 examples of 3008 Hybrid4 : the electric motor is “non-compliant”, and must therefore be replaced.

If you own one of the cars concerned, Peugeot will contact you to make the free workshop visit. This campaign comes when these cars have only been running for a few months, and overall remains of a small scale.

Ford: 6 new models running on E85 superethanol in 2021, including two hybrids

Ford 6 new models running on E85 superethanol in 2021, including two hybrids

Ford announces the launch in 2021 of six new models compatible with E85 Superethanol as standard.

Ford is not lacking in ambition for 2021, particularly in the field of electrification. This year, the American manufacturer will launch no less than 18 hybrid or 100% electric vehicles.

The brand will also ride on the success of E85 superethanol, the consumption of which increased by 4% last year in France despite the drop in traffic linked to the various episodes of confinement. Ford is now promising 6 new vehicles running on Superethanol (but also on Unleaded 95 E5 or E10).

City car, compact, SUV and utility use E85 Superethanol

The Fiesta EcoBoost, the Puma EcoBoost, the Focus EcoBoost mHEV, the Kuga FHEV, the Fiesta Van and the Transit Connect will in the coming months be compatible with biofuel, a mixture of ethanol and unleaded 95 gasoline, whose average price per liter is 0.66 €, two times cheaper than the SP95-E10

“When we returned to the market for vehicles originally compatible with E85 superethanol at the start of 2019, the Kuga was an immediate success in France,” said Louis-Carl Vignon, President of Ford France. “We are convinced that this fuel, cheaper and greener, is more in line with the expectations of the French. And now, 2 of our E85 compatible vehicles are also hybrids!”, He added, referring to the Focus and Kuga.

At the beginning of January 2021, some 2,300 stations, or 1 in 4 stations in France, were offering Superethanol-E85.

Fiat Panda 4×4 takes on Ferrari SF90 Stradale (2021)

Fiat Panda 4x4 takes on Ferrari SF90 Stradale (2021)

After a Porsche Taycan, the Fiat Panda 4×4 faces a Ferrari SF90 Stradale on the snow. To your bets.

The original Fiat Panda 4×4 has more than one trick up its sleeve and, perhaps inspired by the recent video showing the 1980s off-road city car taking on a Porsche Taycan in the snow without having to be ashamed of its performance, the Instagram user named maxige78 posted a similar video.

We see the Panda 4×4 facing, again in drag racing on the snow, a Ferrari SF90 Stradale . And again, David is defending himself pretty well against Goliath.

50hp against 1.000hp

The Ferrari SF90 Stradale is the first plug-in hybrid from the manufacturer of Maranello. Its mid-rear twin-turbo V8 is associated with three electric motors to provide 1,000hp, 900Nm of torque and all-wheel drive combined with electronic torque management. The coupe weighs 1.570kg empty.

The Panda, with its 50hp for around 800kg, does not quite play in the same court. Yet its lightness and the narrowness of its tires once again allow it to set off at least as well as the supercar it faces, which catches it after a few meters. We can imagine the head of the owner of the Ferrari , who has spent more than 400,000 € to acquire it, if that had not been the case!
