RML Short Wheelbase (2022): in tribute to the Ferrari 250 GT SWB

RML Short Wheelbase (2022) in tribute to the Ferrari 250 GT SWB

The British from RML Group will produce 30 copies of the Short Wheelbase, a superb coupe paying homage to the Ferrari 250 GT SWB.

The RML Short Wheelbase is a tribute to the legendary Ferrari 250 GT SWB , and is based on a Ferrari 550 Maranello chassis, whose suspensions have been modified to get the most out of its performance, with the help of Ohlins passive shock absorbers. Its body is made entirely of carbon fiber , which also allows a substantial weight reduction.

Compared to the 550 Maranello, the front overhang has been reduced, to optimize the distribution of masses towards the center of gravity, thus improving handling. To pursue this goal of perfect mass balance, the battery has been moved from the engine compartment to the boot.

RML Short Wheelbase (2022): a 485 horsepower V12

Under the hood, hides an atmospheric V12 engine with 5.5 liters of displacement, developing the power of 485 horsepower for 570 Nm of torque . The assembly is transmitted to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. RML already announces a 0 to 96 km / h in 4.1 seconds , for a top speed of around 300 km / h.

The RML Short Wheelbase will be produced in 30 units from the end of this year, with deliveries expected in the first half of 2022 . Price wise, it will take you around 1.3 million pounds sterling, or the equivalent of 1.51 million euros , to offer you this superb replica of the Ferrari 250 GT SWB, the rare original models of which are being traded today. Sell at more than 10 million euros at auction !

Toyota GR 86: it already goes through the tuning box!

Toyota GR 86 it already goes through the tuning box

The new Toyota GR 86, unveiled very recently, already receives the TOM’s Racing label with spare parts and body kits to improve its look… And certainly its performance!

Barely unveiled last April , the new Toyota GR 86 has already been modified, this time by the Japanese teams from TOM’s Racing.

It was during the Fuji 86 Style event in Japan that the Japanese preparer – specialist in the Toyota and Lexus brand – unveiled his complete car. Code name: TOM’s GR86 Concept .

Careful preparation for the GR 86

For starters, the TOM’s GR86 is painted bright orange , a color that is not available on the standard GR 86.

Then there is the body kit. This prepared GR86 is clearly a steroid version of the production model.

The car has an extended front spoiler to increase aerodynamics and side skirts which reinforce the aggressive design of the GR86. The biggest change on the GR86 prepared by TOM’s Racing is visible at the rear: the rear bumper has a black coating, fins still in a concern of aerodynamic downforce, and a modified exhaust to 4 outputs mounted in 2 × 2.

Regarding its handling on the ground, the TOM’s GR86 has new TOM’s Cross Speed ??wheels, much wider, instead of the original wheels. Behind these hides a large modified brake kit. Enough to offer increased braking power.

Without clarification at this time, we don’t know if any changes have been made under the hood. But since the car has big brakes, bigger wheels, and a new exhaust system, there are likely a few tweaks that add more power.

A four cylinder that sings!

As a reminder, under the hood the naturally aspirated 2.4 L flat four-cylinder with direct and indirect double injection of the GR 86 offers nearly 235 horsepower of maximum power for 250 Nm of torque. Compared to the previous generation, this represents a gain of 35 horsepower and 45 Nm.

The assembly is sent to the rear wheels only via a six-speed manual transmission, or an optional six-speed automatic. The Japanese coupe completes the 0 to 100 km / h in 6.3 seconds , against 7.4 seconds for the GT86 .

Alpine SUV (2022): what we already know

Alpine SUV (2022) what we already know

Alpine, which will switch to 100% electric, intends to expand its range in the coming months. A vitamin SUV is particularly hoped for. While waiting for its release in 2022, here is what we already know about it …

It’s done! Alpine will expand its range . In a few months, the A110 berlinetta will no longer be the only model offered in the Dieppe brand’s catalog. In particular, it will be joined in 2023 by the Alpine City (provisional name), a 100% electric city car 4m long based on the CMF-B platform of the new Renault Clio . On the menu for the latter: around 200 hp and 400 km of autonomy!

A cross-sedan?

But before that, the A arrow will give way to SUV fashion . A high legged Alpine is indeed expected for the first quarter of 2022 . Potentially baptized A410 , it will be more exactly a crossover, or even a “cross-sedan” , this mixture of genres which combines the elements of the sedan, the SUV and the coupe.

The model, which will be the perfect rival of the next Porsche Macan currently in preparation , will take the underside of the future Mégane (CMF-EV). It should thus measure nearly 4.70 m long and offer four places.

Design question, it will have its own style, both elegant and sporty . Despite everything, it should take up certain “gimmicks” dear to Alpine, such as the singular light signature with four optics.

Around 400 hp and 500 km of autonomy

On the mechanical side, the A410 will obviously be zero emissions since Alpine is destined to become a 100% electric brand . More precisely, it will have two blocks (one on each axle for all-wheel drive) for a cumulative power of 400 hp minimum , or even 500 hp for a possible “S” version. Autonomy is expected around 500 km . The icing on the cake, rear steering wheels will also be on the program to guarantee a certain dynamism and good sportiness to the A410.

Not for all budgets

The prices of the Alpine SUV should start around 80,000 € .

The Maybach 57 , and more particularly its 612 hp S version, has caught the attention of German coachbuilder Xenatec , who wants to transform it into a Coupé. Mercedes signed for the supply of a hundred copies of its luxury sedan, but all did not go as planned: in fact, only eight units were produced , before Xenatec closed its doors on background of financial embezzlement.

Its body has a black “Baltic Black” paint, contrasting with gray aluminum rims and a good dose of chrome inserts, and remains in excellent condition. The same goes for the interior, where we find a white leather trim “Alaska Weiß” contrasting with black inserts and carbon fiber elements.

This rare Maybach 57 S Xenatec Coupé is on sale for 795,000 euros . It comes with all of its documentation, an original Maybach book and scarf supplied with the car, duplicate keys and a battery charger.

BMW M4 Competition Cabriolet (2021): the official info!

BMW M4 Competition Cabriolet (2021) the official info

For this summer, the M4 falls high like the classic 4 Series: exit the hardtop, make way for a traditional canvas to take advantage of the 6-cylinder twin-turbo 510 hp hair in the wind!

With summer approaching, this new M4 convertible is just right . If you plan to ride hair in the wind, BMW thus declines its new M4 in a convertible version , after the recent releases of the BMW M3 Sedan (G80) and M4 Coupé (G82).

The range is therefore quickly completed with this BMW M4 Competition M xDrive Cabriolet , its exact name.

BMW M4 takes off the roof

Compared to an M4 Coupé , nothing new on the horizon. The styling is the same, the huge bean grille is still present and the body lines are identical. The only difference, and not the least, one of the two can now open its roof ! Practical if you plan to enjoy summer walks with the sweet melody of a demonic inline 6-cylinder …

Its roof precisely, let’s talk about it. This one is all in fabric, available in black or anthracite color. Its structure is made from light materials to reduce its weight as much as possible. It would even be 40% lighter compared to the retractable hardtop of the previous generation.

In addition, the convertible top can also be opened while driving: the maneuver will only take 18 seconds !

An engine that continues to perform as well

Regarding the engine block, it remains unchanged. The BMW M4 Competition Cabriolet still carries the 3.0L twin-turbo engine which delivers no less than 510 horsepower . All this, coupled with an 8-speed gearbox responsible for collecting 650 Nm of torque .

With such power, 0 to 100 is shot in 3.7 seconds , and 0 to 200 km / h is sprayed in 13.1 seconds. Fearsome performance which is very similar to the M4 Coupé version, which completes the exercise from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.5 seconds thanks to its few pounds less on the scale.

The speed is still electronically restricted to 250 km / h , but it is possible to unleash it to 280 km / h thanks to an option.

Drift always possible

Even though the BMW M4 Competition Cabriolet is only offered in the xDrive version , i.e. exclusively with all-wheel drive mode, the eight-speed automatic gearbox offers several driving modes: 4WD, 4WD Sport and 2WD .

This last mode offers a typical propulsion architecture. What drift when the ESP is deactivated!

Marketing for this summer

Another good point, BMW announces an improved trunk volume of 80 liters compared to the previous generation, the M4 Cabriolet F83. Its volume now increases to 300 liters and climbs up to 385 liters depending on whether the roof is open or closed. By way of comparison, that of the older generation offered a capacity of only 220 liters.

If you plan to offer it to yourself, plan a minimum envelope of 115,550 euros. It will arrive in concession within two months, next July .

Almost half a century later, the German brand is bringing the car up to date in a fully electrified version with a unique example , the GSe ElektroMOD.

A design faithful to the original

Overall, the concept follows the lines of the original version, although the manufacturer has allowed itself a few small adjustments to give it a “2021” air.

Note in particular the double optics on the front, L-shaped LEDs , which change the round headlights of the original version. On the grille, the Manta has the particularity of being able to “communicate” thanks to an integrated screen on the surface between the headlights . We also note the presence of 17-inch rims on the vehicle with a futuristic design.

Regarding the interior, we find the Opel Pure Panel in place of the classic dashboard, with two screens facing the driver. We will also notice the presence of a somewhat special manual gearbox , with three reports corresponding to three speeds and a last report which puts the car in automatic gearbox mode.

An electric motor under the hood

Regarding the engine, exit the four-cylinder thermal block present in the original version. For this 2021 vintage, Opel opted for a 147 hp electric motor offering 255 Nm of torque, transmitted to the rear wheels.

In terms of autonomy, we have about 200 km offered by the 31 kWh batteries. It is associated with a 9 kW charger which allows it to charge 100% in less than 4 hours.
