Bentley Flying Spur Decadence: a unique pickup version

Bentley Flying Spur Decadence a unique pickup version

DC Customs took on the Bentley Flying Spur and turned it into a luxurious pickup, dubbed Decadence.

Bentley took another unprecedented step when it decided to market in 2015 its first SUV, the Bentayga, going well beyond the luxury sedans, coupes, and convertibles usually made by the British firm.

So, why not a pickup? It was a crazy idea that a wealthy British owner of a Flying Spur had.

For this, he called on DC Customs, an English company located not far from Birmingham and specializing in the restoration of classic models and the preparation of fully personalized cars.

This Bentley Flying Spur Decadence does not go unnoticed.

Initially, the Bentley Flying Spur was a large four-door sedan: for this project called “Decadence,” They utterly transformed the rear part.

The two rear doors have disappeared, and a large tipper has replaced the welcoming rear seats and the trunk.

The car was made with a luxurious wood veneer, made like the floor of a luxury yacht.

This new space perfectly complements the interior of the vehicle, covered in two-tone caramel leather, contrasting with a brown carpet and noble wood inserts.

The exterior styling is also eye-catching, with two-tone paintwork combining a deep purple with a metallic gray that can find on the hood and the front grille, not to mention the “Decadence” badges.

DC Customs did not specify its price, nor how many hours were necessary to carry out this crazy project.

But that made this unique example of running on the road, and that its happy owner will therefore drive it…

Bentley Bentayga: Mulliner carbon fiber rims

Bentley Bentayga Mulliner carbon fiber rims

Mulliner presents a new carbon fiber wheel for the Bentley Bentayga, which saves 6 kg compared to an aluminum model.

Bentley presents an all- new 22-inch carbon fiber rim , developed specifically for the Bentayga SUV by Mulliner, its customization department. It was designed with Bucci Composites, one of the world’s leading composites suppliers, and will be the world’s largest production carbon wheel , which has many advantages in addition to its looks: better safety, better steering agility and better stability, less tire wear and better braking thanks to the reduction in unsprung mass.

Meeting the strict standards of the TÜV ( Technischer ÜberwachungsVerei ), it is the first carbon wheel to have passed all of the German body’s most rigorous tests for non-metallic wheels: biaxial stress, tire pressure, excessive torque , or radial and side impact tests, to simulate traffic through potholes and cobblestones.

These are the most severe tests: after a strong impact, which should crack or break an aluminum wheel, which can cause the tire to explode, the Mulliner carbon fiber rim has proven its strongest resistance , with deflation. slow and progressive tire, allowing control of the car.

Bentley Mulliner carbon fiber rims: tests at the Nürburgring

For the final stage, the carbon wheels of the Bentley Bentayga were also put to the test on the famous Nordschleife circuit of the Nürburgring. In addition to the weight saving of 6 kg , the carbon fiber allows to offer better resistance and additional rigidity.

To produce this unique rim, a new manufacturing process has been patented: the carbon fiber is cut, then the elements are assembled, stacked and heated in a mold, to give the final shape of the product. A specific resin and hardener are finally injected into the assembly, which is then temperature hardened before demoulding and finishing operations (machining and polishing).

This unprecedented carbon fiber rim is a real showcase for Mulliner , which highlights its know-how and its ability to provide Bentley customers with innovative and unique personalization elements. Available to order at the end of 2021 , it will complete the range of carbon fiber parts designed for the Bentayga, made up of the front spoiler, the side sills and the rear diffuser, not to mention the interior inserts in carbon fiber.

Bentley Bentayga S (2021): a sportier version of the luxury SUV

Bentley Bentayga S (2021) a sportier version of the luxury SUV

Bentley is launching a new version of its luxury SUV, the Bentayga.

A compromise between sportiness and sobriety

The classic Bentley Bentayga is too common for you, but the Speed ??version intimidates you? Bentley has the solution: the Bentayga S, which comes as a sporty alternative , but not too much.

The Bentley Bentayga S is a brand new version , and comes close to what Porsche could call GTS , or S at Audi: a sportier version, but without overflowing with performance. Moreover, the engine of the Bentayga V8 is retained, with an identical power of 550 hp . Performance does not change either: 4.5 seconds to speed 0 to 100 km / h, and a top speed set at 290 km / h. Already quite sufficient, but behind the Bentayga Speed , with its W12 of 635 hp.

Firmer suspensions and more aggressive look

But if the engine doesn’t change, what makes the Bentayga S different from the “base” V8 model? Bentley promises better agility , thanks to specific suspension settings. The Sport mode has been redesigned, and acts on the management of the anti-roll system at 48V, while the suspensions have been firmed by 15%.

Visually, the Bentley Bentayga S is closer to the Speed, with black accents on all chrome surfaces : grille, bumper, door frames, etc. New 22-inch rims are available, while a new sports exhaust should allow the V8 to express itself a little more freely.

Bentley does in the sporty interior too, with vast expanses of Alcantara, a new decorative insert on the dashboard, and S badges scattered all over the place.

The Bentayga S therefore becomes the fourth version in the luxury SUV range, under the Bentayga Speed ??but above the V8 and plug-in hybrid versions . A compromise for those looking for a little dynamism.
