Just a few days after its presentation, discover the Volkswagen Polo restyled in great detail and in video with our journalist Agnès Lasbarrères.
With over 18 million units produced since its debut in 1975, the Polo is undoubtedly one of Volkswagen’s bestsellers and one of the most popular city cars in its segment . The arrival of each new version is therefore particularly eagerly awaited and is of paramount importance for the German manufacturer.
So, when it comes to restyling its sixth-generation Polo , Volkswagen has decided not to take too many risks: the brand has modernized its model by drawing inspiration from its safe bet… the Golf .
A small Golf
Like its big sister, the Polo is indeed gaining in character. Its style is more assertive thanks in particular to redesigned shields, a light strip that runs the entire width of the vehicle and new LED headlamps (IQ.Light matrixes as an option). At the rear, the lights, matched to those of the Golf, have also been reviewed.
A dime a dozen technologies
On the other hand, on board, the architecture does not evolve, which does not prevent the Polo from making a leap in terms of modernity and equipment with in particular the digital 8-inch Digital Cockpit handset which is now offered as standard. (the 10.25-inch “Pro” version is optional). We also note the appearance of a small touch screen for automatic air conditioning. The city car also goes upmarket in terms of driving aids since it can for example benefit from a semi-autonomous driving system (Travel Assist),
207 hp for the GTI
As for the engines, we find without much surprise the already existing gasoline units , namely the 1.0L MPI of 80 ch and the 1.0L TSI of 95 and 110 ch. The GTI version will also return to the catalog with a 2.0-liter TSI four-cylinder with 207 hp. His presentation is scheduled for this summer.
In concession in September 2021
The prices of the car have not yet been communicated but the arrival at the dealership is scheduled for September .
