The Nissan Leaf is 10 years old. The famous compact was launched in December 2010 in Japan before arriving in Europe at the beginning of 2011. On the occasion of this anniversary, the pioneer of 100% electric mobility is giving herself a nice gift: she comes indeed to cross the symbolic bar of 500,000 copies sold worldwide. 16 billion kilometers traveled
“By switching to 100% electric mobility, these 500,000 customers around the world have brought us all closer to a more sustainable and resilient society,” commented Makoto Uchida, head of Nissan .
According to Nissan , these past 500,000 Leaf have so far traveled 16 billion kilometers around the world, thus avoiding the emission of more than 2.5 million tons of CO2.
Continuously improved over time
She’s made it out of the way, little Leaf! From its first version to its last e + variant introduced in 2019, it has never stopped evolving. Its engine, in particular, has been increased from 109 to 217 hp, while the capacity of its battery has increased at the same time from 24 to 62 kWh, for a range of up to 385 km (WLTP cycle).
Produced at factories in Japan, the United States and Europe, the Nissan Leaf is now sold in 59 countries around the world.
