The Chinese manufacturer BYD will soon launch the BYD Dolphin: a new compact 100% electric model, which could one day land in Europe.
The BYD Dolphin is a future relatively compact model, with its length of 4.07 meters by 1.77 meters wide, for a wheelbase of 2.70 meters, and whose proportions are reminiscent of the Honda Jazz . Prefigured by the concept BYD EA1, it is the first model to be based on the platform 800 V “E-platform 3.0” of BYD , which will equip all future models 100% electric Chinese manufacturer.
BYD Dolphin (2022): up to 405 km of range
According to information distilled by MIIT, Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technologies, the Dolphin will be marketed with two versions: the first called SR (Standard Range) will be equipped with a 30.72 kWh battery , and will be able to travel up to 301 km (according to the NEDC cycle) with a single charge, while the second, LR (Long Range), will offer up to 405 km of autonomy (still according to the NEDC cycle) thanks to a battery of 44.93 kWh .
Thanks to its 800-volt architecture, fast charging can recover up to 150 km of range in just 5 minutes. Its engine will offer a power of 95 horsepower for 180 Nm of torque , allowing it a maximum speed of 150 km / h.
The BYD Dolphin will be marketed in China from next year, at a price of around 100,000 yuan, or the equivalent of around 13,100 euros . Marketing in Europe has not yet been confirmed, but it would not be surprising to see it land soon in our regions!
