BMW is launching two new plug-in hybrid models in France: the 320th and 520th. Prices start at € 46,500.
BMW is continuing its electrification offensive by launching a new plug-in hybrid version in the 3 Series and 5 Series range. And “good news for wallets”, this is a version with access to PHEV technology.
A combined output of 204 hp
The 320th and 520th – this is their name – combine a 163 hp 2.0L 4-cylinder petrol engine and a 113 hp electric unit for a combined power of 204 hp and 350 Nm of torque.
This cavalry is transmitted to the rear wheels via an 8-speed manual gearbox or to all four wheels using the XDrive all-wheel drive.
The new BMW 320e Sedan goes from 0 to 100 km / h in 7.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 225 km / h (7.9 seconds and 220 km / h for its Touring estate variant) while the 520th Sedan accelerates from standstill to 100 km / h in 7.9 seconds with a top speed of 225 km / h (8.2 seconds and 218 km / h for the 520th Touring).
In purely electric driving mode, the new plug-in hybrid versions of both models can reach a top speed of 140 km / h.
45 to 61 km of electric autonomy
BMW also announces that the 12.0 kWh lithium-ion batteries, installed under the rear seat, offer an all-electric range of between 56 and 61 km for the 320th Sedan (54 to 59 km for the 320th Touring) and between 51 and 57 km for the 520th Sedan (45 to 51 km for the 520th Touring).
The battery can be charged to a maximum of 3.7kW from 0 to 80% of its capacity in 2.6 hours and from 0 to 100% in 3.6 hours.
Orders are already open. The BMW 320e starts at € 46,500 while the BMW 520e starts at € 52,650.
