Audi has just started production of the e-tron GT, its future all-electric four-door coupe, at the Böllinger Höfe plant in Germany. The presentation of the model is scheduled for early 2021.
Let’s go for the Audi e-tron GT ! Expected in November 2020 at the Los Angeles auto show but still not presented, the future 100% electric sports car has just entered production.
The model took place alongside the R8 on the assembly lines of the Audi Sport factory in Böllinger Höfe at the Neckarsulm site in Germany. It is the first fully electric vehicle produced by Audi across the Rhine.
“No vehicle carrying the four rings has ever been prepared so quickly for series production,” the manufacturer said in a statement.
Carbon neutral production
The icing on the cake, the production of the e-tron GT is completely carbon neutral thanks in particular to the eco-electricity and the heat coming from regenerative sources. “The vehicle production process, which conserves resources, also avoids paper and packaging, uses aluminum and polymers in a closed loop,” says the firm.
The production site at Böllinger Höfe was specially extended, modernized and retooled in 2019 to accommodate the Audi e-tron GT.
World premiere early 2021
The world premiere of the all-electric four-door coupe is slated for early 2021, with orders to open in the spring.
