Porsche Taycan (2022): more range and more colors

Porsche Taycan (2022) more range and more colors

Porsche slightly updates its electric sedan, the Taycan!

For the model year 2022, Porsche is slightly revising its Taycan electric sedan. No question of playing the 7 differences: the body was not changed. But beneath it lie some technology updates, which should improve the autonomy of this rival of the Tesla Model S.

In Normal and Range modes, the front motor of full-size versions is almost always decoupled from the wheels and then goes into freewheel mode. According to Porsche, this operation would allow a nice gain of autonomy without that not being felt on the responsiveness of the sports sedan. The front-engine starts up again in “a few milliseconds” as soon as the driver firmly presses the accelerator or switches to Sport mode. On the other hand, Porsche did not wish to re-type the Taycan, so the official WLTP autonomy remains the same.

Your tailor-made painting!

Porsche is also taking the opportunity to review the management of fast charging. Android Auto is also now available, in addition to Apple Car Play. The infotainment system is also updated. Finally, a Tesla Summon-style autonomous parking function is currently working. So you can watch your Taycan niche from the outside!

On the outside, you can now order your Porsche Taycan in a custom color, according to the Paint to Sample (PTS) system. The Taycan can therefore proudly display paintings that have become cult at Porsche, such as the purple of these images, taken from the range of the 964 in the 1990s. And with PTS +, you can paint your Taycan in any color by taking a sample analyzed by Porsche.

Opel Rocks-e (2021): the German Citroën Ami!

Opel Rocks-e (2021) the German Citroën Ami

To attract young people in Germany, Opel takes over the Citroën Ami, with a Rocks-e with a slightly different look.

The sympathetic Citroën Ami now has a German cousin: the Opel Rocks-e ! The Blitz has decided to take over the license-free car since Germany has regulations making it attractive across the Rhine.

As in France, an AM license allows you to drive light mopeds and vehicles limited to 45 km / h without taking the full license, and from 15 years in Germany.

On the other hand, we can say that Opel has not sprained to adapt the Friend to its stylistic codes. The body panels, designed to be as cheap as possible to produce, are precisely the same.

The details change: hubcaps, logos obviously, and a different decoration using the neon yellow specific to the brand.

Identical technique, comparable prices?

Technical level, no change either. We, therefore, find a power of 8 hp, a WLTP range of 75 km, and a speed limited to 45 km / h.

The set weighs only 471 kg, thanks to the widespread use of plastic and the total absence of equipment (air conditioning, radio, airbags, etc.).

Opel does not specify for the moment the prices of its minor without an electric license, but they should not be too far from its French cousin, which starts at 6,090 €, an ecological bonus of 900 € deducted.

It will be available in several trim levels like the French: the basic Rocks-e, then the Rocks-e Klub, and finally the Rocks-e TeKno.

It remains to be seen whether Opel will decline its micro-utility cart, as is the case for the Citroën with the Ami Cargo.

The Opel Rocks-e will be available in Germany this fall, with other markets in 2022. It is hard to imagine competing with Citroën in France, but it could be rebadged Vauxhall and then join the United Kingdom.

Rolls-Royce Ghost: this preparation signed Spofec offers 685 horsepower

Rolls-Royce Ghost this preparation signed Spofec offers 685 horsepower

It is not easy to entrust a Rolls-Royce to tuning specialists, but the Germans at Spofec have successfully taken care of the new Ghost.

Spofec (for “SPirit OF ECstasy”) is the department of the German preparer Novitec specializing in the preparation of models of the Rolls-Royce brand. After the Wraith Black Badge, here is a new personalization and performance pack intended for the second generation of the Ghost.

The power of the 6.75-liter twin-turbo V12 in the new Rolls-Royce Ghost has been increased to 685 horsepower and 985 Nm of torque, thanks to an additional unit called “Spofec N-Tronic.”

They allowed an increase of no less than 114 horsepower and 135 Nm of torque compared to the original configuration. Performance is up, with a 0 to 100 km / h swallowed in 4.5 seconds, or 0.3 seconds better, while the top speed remains limited to 250 km / h.

As an option, an active stainless steel exhaust system is also available, offering a sportier sound to the luxury sedan.

Spofec Rolls-Royce Ghost: discreet personalization

Unlike Mansory’s eccentricity, Novitec Spofec prefers discretion: aesthetically, this Ghost offers carbon-fiber bodywork elements, such as a revised front bumper with more oversized air intakes, side vents, side sill extensions, a discreet rear spoiler, as well as a redesigned rear apron.

Of particular note is the superb 22-inch Vossen forged rims, enhanced by the “Spofec Can-Tronic” air suspension, which lowers the trim level by 40 mm.

The interior is fully customizable to the customer’s taste. In this example, they trimmed the interior in black leather with contrasting orange accents, matched with shiny black inserts on the dashboard and center console.

Spofec has not specified a price for this preparation for the new Ghost, but given the number of luxurious materials used, such as carbon fiber, it is already looking expensive. A standard Rolls-Royce Ghost is already selling for a check for around 300,000 euros, excluding options.

Volkswagen Golf 8 GTI BBS Concept: vintage tuning!

Volkswagen Golf 8 GTI BBS Concept vintage tuning

Amateurs of tuning and “German Look,” this preparation based on Golf 8 GTI should make you drool… Its golden BBS rims and yellow headlamps strongly recall the 1990s. The concept is also inspired by a Golf 2 prepared by an individual and celebrates the arrival of the people’s car on American soil.

A thoughtful concept

Bring in extra style without overdoing it. Here is the key to this project supported directly by Volkswagen from the United States. Because Golf is popular in Europe, it is not the case everywhere. Especially for entry-level versions that are not part of VW’s overseas launch program.

Jamie Orr created this Golf 8 GTI BBS Concept near Philadelphia. It is a modern copy of an older second-generation model, modified by a certain Brock Bickford to state of the art. Subtle modifications assert the personality of a GTI, often criticized for its aesthetic and aural wisdom. And with it, you won’t go unnoticed.

Complete exhaust and coil overs

First, these famous BBS Super RS rims cut large: 19 inches at the front and the rear! The latter can be visible by the screws and the chrome surround, which is typical of what the equipment manufacturer has been offering for a long time. That’s not all since the body has been lowered via H&R coil-overs with now a more significant camber.

The photos of the rear also highlight the new Borla exhaust line. According to the owner’s words, the noise would be amplified and ennobled without overdoing it. They did the job with the decoration kit, which includes stickers and the red border running the length of the compact.

Moreover, this Golf 8 GTI is original. The Interior and engine are not changed. The 2.0 turbo still develops 241 hp (4 hp less than in Europe) at the front wheels. In comparison, they were waiting for the arrival of the R version, scheduled for the summer in the USA.

Ferrari 812 GTS: Novitec offers a spectacular N-Largo kit

Ferrari 812 GTS Novitec offers a spectacular N-Largo kit

If the Ferrari 812 GTS is not exclusive enough for you, a little visit to the Germans at Novitec will give it a more ferocious “N-Largo” look.

The German preparer Novitec is renowned for its modified Ferraris, generally thanks to body kits, wheels, or even modifications to the suspension and exhausts.

The Ferrari 812 GTS N-Largo is the latest addition to Novitec’s offering and perhaps their craziest production to date.

Based on a Ferrari 812 GTS spider. Novitec added new carbon fiber body panels, new more giant forged rims (21-inch front and 22 inch rear).

Suspension revised for a lower ride height of 35 mm and an increase in power of 40 horsepower and 33 Nm of additional torque to give the naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 a total of 840 horsepower for 751 Nm of torque.

The set used an entirely reworked exhaust system to give the group a more aggressive sound. For a maximum speed of 345 km/h, was acquired the 0 to 100 km/h range in 2.8 seconds.

Novitec Ferrari 812 GTS N-Largo: only 18 units

Aesthetically, the N-Largo kit for the Ferrari 812 GTS consists of a front bumper and a specific rear bumper, as well as fender and sill extensions, giving the model an additional 70 mm width at the bottom. ‘

Front and up to 140 mm more at the rear. Carbon fiber inserts on the hood, mirrors, and taillights surround complete this decidedly aggressive look.

Novitec has not communicated a price for the new N-Largo kit for the Ferrari 812 GTS, but it will be limited to 18 units.

BMW: the 5 most iconic models in pictures!

BMW the 5 most iconic models in pictures

Sports cars, sedans, roadsters, supercars… It is challenging to retain only 5 BMWs! Yet here is our selection of the most iconic models of the Bavarian firm.

In recent years, BMW is trying somehow to reinvent itself. And between its M division, strong of incomparable sports heritage, and the new electric section “i,” difficult to reconcile the irreconcilable… Still, for many, BMW remains an icon of the pleasure of driving. A quality that the Bavarian manufacturer has put forward throughout its history. 5 most legendary BMWs for you: let’s go for a bit of a tour of the museum!

BMW 328: 1936 – 1940

Like other German manufacturers, BMW was in a position of strength just before World War II. Avant-garde technologies, style, luxury… Everything comes together in the 328 roadsters. Luxurious, it is very efficient and wins prestigious races such as the Mille Miglia or the 24 Hours of Le Mans (class victory). But the war cut short a successful career.

After World War II, the 328 will have a great legacy, although this is to the chagrin of BMW. Indeed, the allies recovered the plans of its six-cylinder in-line, very advanced for the time, and used to power several British models, particularly at Bristol and AC. The look will inspire BMW for years to come.

BMW M1: 1978 – 1981

As its name suggests, the BMW M1 is the very first car developed by the brand’s famous M division! It started with a racing car project designed in collaboration with Lamborghini (kicked out of the project before the release of the M1). Hence the supercar look, signed Giugiaro! Sporty thanks to its contained weight and its six-cylinder engine of 270 hp, the M1 will also have a very successful career in competition. A single-brand M1 Procar championship will accompany F1 in 1979 and 1980. They can also find the M1 and its strident engine at the 24 Hours of Le Mans until 1986.

The incredible styling of the M1 will inspire the M1 Hommage concept in 2008, then the sporty hybrid i8.

BMW M3 E30: 1986 – 1991

Like the M1, the BMW M3 had designed as a competitive weapon. The 3 Series E30 sedan is then completely transformed: broad wings, spoiler, sophisticated and lightweight chassis… Everything is good to compete with Mercedes in the DTM championship. And where the 3 Series of the time are entitled to a beautiful six-cylinder, the M3 must be content with a 4-cylinder … But it is closely derived from racing and promises nearly 200 hp at more than 7,000 rpm/min! Spectacular for the time.

The heritage of the M3 is enormous since the model still survives 35 years later. And despite the significant weight gain, the M3 remains probably the car that most closely matches the M spirit: a perfect balance in the service of driving pleasure that rivals sports cars like the Porsche 911.

BMW M5 E39: 1998 – 2003

Launched in 1984, the BMW M5 was immediately a phenomenon. And for a good reason: it becomes the fastest sedan in the world, just that! But maturity (and commercial success) will come mainly with the third generation, code name E39. It is the first to adopt a V8, and the result is spectacular: 400 hp under the hood! Very efficient, the M5 does not forget comfort either. It is a real GT for the long haul, unlike a more sporty M3. The next generation (E60) adopts a crazy 507 hp V10, but its style signed by Chris Bangle will be fewer options, ensuring the E39 has its place in the BMW myth.

BMW Z8: 2000 – 2003

Few cars get everyone to agree about style: this is the case with the BMW Z8. The roadster does the feat of combining neo-retro tones and a timeless look. The Z8 should remain only a concept, a style study paying homage to the BMW 507 of the 1950s. Thanks to the 400hp V8 of the M5 E39, the BMW Z8 is capable but not sporty. She prefers beautiful walks … Or filming! It is indeed on the poster of James Bond, “The world is not enough, “released in 1999. It does not take much to make the BMW Z8 famous.

Bentley Flying Spur Decadence: a unique pickup version

Bentley Flying Spur Decadence a unique pickup version

DC Customs took on the Bentley Flying Spur and turned it into a luxurious pickup, dubbed Decadence.

Bentley took another unprecedented step when it decided to market in 2015 its first SUV, the Bentayga, going well beyond the luxury sedans, coupes, and convertibles usually made by the British firm.

So, why not a pickup? It was a crazy idea that a wealthy British owner of a Flying Spur had.

For this, he called on DC Customs, an English company located not far from Birmingham and specializing in the restoration of classic models and the preparation of fully personalized cars.

This Bentley Flying Spur Decadence does not go unnoticed.

Initially, the Bentley Flying Spur was a large four-door sedan: for this project called “Decadence,” They utterly transformed the rear part.

The two rear doors have disappeared, and a large tipper has replaced the welcoming rear seats and the trunk.

The car was made with a luxurious wood veneer, made like the floor of a luxury yacht.

This new space perfectly complements the interior of the vehicle, covered in two-tone caramel leather, contrasting with a brown carpet and noble wood inserts.

The exterior styling is also eye-catching, with two-tone paintwork combining a deep purple with a metallic gray that can find on the hood and the front grille, not to mention the “Decadence” badges.

DC Customs did not specify its price, nor how many hours were necessary to carry out this crazy project.

But that made this unique example of running on the road, and that its happy owner will therefore drive it…

Toyota GR Supra (2021): a body kit from Wald

Toyota GR Supra (2021) a body kit from Wald

Japanese tuner Wald International has taken on the new Toyota GR Supra with an aggressive Formula 1-inspired body kit.

To distinguish it from the wiser BMW Z4 from which it borrows many elements, the new fifth-generation Toyota GR Supra has a specific design, with muscular and assertive lines.

But if the style of the new Toyota coupe was not aggressive enough for your tastes.

The Japanese tuner Wald International has come up with something to say loud and clear that your Supra is not just a “vulgar rebadged Z4”.

Toyota GR Supra (2021): a kit inspired by Formula 1

According to the Wald website, this “Sports Line Wide Version” body kit gives the Supra a “Formula 1 appearance.” The most striking feature is the front bumper.

The standard GR Supra’s nose inspired the design to make it more prominent and aggressive. A wide mouth and large air intakes complete the set, along with a black blade at its bottom.

At the rear, we find fender extensions, a new black diffuser with a distinctive quadruple tailpipe, as well as an imposing double spoiler, bringing an actual race car look to the Supra.

New matching sill extensions for sidewalls and several more aggressive rim models are also available.

Wald offers a “Sports Line” option for Supra enthusiasts who don’t want to go all “Fast and Furious” with this kit. It includes front, rear, and side spoilers, as well as a more discrete spoiler.

Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25: ultra-limited edition of 700 hp!

Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 ultra-limited edition of 700 hp

For track day enthusiasts, this might just be the perfect Porsche: a 911 GT2 RS Clubsport reviewed by Manthey Racing!

If the name of Manthey Racing rings a bell, congratulations! You master the history of Porsche in competition! The German preparer is indeed a specialist in the 911, and for example won the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring this year. It is also thanks to Manthey that Porsche holds the Nürburgring record for a homologated car, with a 911 GT2 RS prepared by the German workshop.

To celebrate the 25 years of Manthey Racing, Porsche has decided to put the small dishes in the big ones. Here is the Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 . It’s all in the name: it’s a Porsche GT2 RS that has been modified for the track (hence the Clubsport). In practice, this model has already existed for a few years, and has been produced in 200 copies. The Clubsport is intended for thrill seekers on the track, but does not participate in any competition.

30 copies, an astronomical price

From there, Porsche developed the new Porsche 935 in 2018 , evoking the monsters of the 1980s who notably won the 24 Hours of Le Mans . And finally this year, the Clubsport 25 largely uses the technique of the last two, with 700 hp , a PDK double-clutch gearbox and a racing chassis.

The aero has been reworked by Manthey and Porsche, including redesigned front and rear bumpers for more downforce and more efficient cooling. The set is studded with neon yellow accents, the color used by Manthey Racing at the Nürburgring.

This special 25th anniversary edition will only be available in… 30 copies ! An ultra-efficient collector that is obviously not cheap: € 525,000 excluding tax .

Chevrolet COPO Camaro: a monster dedicated to drag races

Chevrolet COPO Camaro a monster dedicated to drag races

Chevrolet unveils the new COPO Camaro, a model intended for “drag races” and offered with several V8 engines up to 580 horsepower.

The Camaro is Chevrolet’s iconic sports coupe: while its future seems to be 100% electric, the current generation is not yet ready to give up its place, if we are to believe this new supercharged COPO version, marketed in the USA.

In the 1960s, Chevrolet made performance parts under the COPO (Central Office Production Order) brand, which could be fitted to models ordered by specific companies, such as fleets of trucks or police vehicles. Some Chevrolet dealers who are passionate about tuning have hijacked this equipment in order to build power-packed Camaros intended for drag racing.

In 2012, Chevrolet had already offered a limited edition of 69 copies of the Chevrolet COPO Camaro , in a nod to its 1969 elder. Today, the new generation of Camaro also has an exclusive COPO badged version, not approved for the road but intended for amateurs of “drag races”.

Chevrolet COPO Camaro: a gigantic V8 under the hood

In addition to its decorative stickers and specific wheels, the new Chevrolet COPO Camaro is distinguished by its specific carbon fiber hood, with a huge dent: enough to accommodate its gigantic 9.4-liter V8 engine (COPO 572 “ Big Block ”), displaying the power of 430 horsepower . The cast iron block features aluminum heads, forged steel crankshaft and connecting rods, and forged aluminum pistons.

However, despite its impressive displacement, this engine will not be the most powerful in the range. Two other variations are also available:

  • COPO 427, with an atmospheric 7.0-liter V8 and 470 horsepower ;
  • COPO 350, with a 5.7-liter supercharged V8 developing 580 horsepower .

All versions of the Chevrolet COPO Camaro feature a three-speed automatic transmission, transmitting power only to the rear wheels, while a brake parachute will also be offered as an option.

For this model year 2022, the production of the Chevrolet COPO Camaro will not be limited in number. It is offered at a starting price from $ 105,500 (around € 89,100 ) for the 430 horsepower version, $ 117,500 (around € 99,200 ) for the 470 horsepower version, as well as $ 130,000 (around € 109,800 ) for the most powerful 580 horsepower.
